Rajasthan will get water of its share as per 1994 Agreement: Chief Minister
Navdha Times Jaipur: Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma has said that Rajasthan will get the entire share of water agreed upon as per the 1994 Yamuna Water Agreement. Shri Sharma was addressing public gatherings at Khetari town and Kalyanpura near Shrimadhopr of Neem Ka Thana district on Saturday. These public meetings were organised as a part of the Dhanyavad Yatra campaign for the water sharing agreement.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gave assurance that Rajasthan would get its full share of water and a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was signed accordingly. This MoU would fulfill the demand of people of Rajasthan awaited for past 30 years. The State government has recently signed the MoU with Haryana Government and the Government of India, as per which the state will get 1917 qusec of water share from the Yamuna river.
Shri Sharma said that a detailed project report (DPR) would be prepared soon to implement the water sharing agreement. The CM further added that Khetari, Shrimadhopr and NeemKaThana regions would also get due share of water under this project. This would benefit the entire population including farmers.
Shri Sharma said that the state government was treating the poor and needy people with utmost sensitivity and welfare schemes would be implemented to fulfill their wishes in a time-bound manner. He said that the PM Shri Modi had felt the pain and suffering of the poor people and several schemes had been announced to benefit them. Under his leadership the state government was working with a very kind heart to the vulnerable groups such as the poor, farmers, labourers, elderly people and women etc, Shri Sharma said.
The Chief Minister said that his government would keep its promises mentioned in the manifesto as per the wishes of the people of Rajasthan.
Water Resources Minister Shri Suresh Rawat, Minister of State Urban Development and Housing Shri Jhabar Singh Kharra, Members of Parliament Shri Narendra Khinchad and Swami Sumedhanand Sarswati, MLAs Shri Dharampal Gurjar, Shri Subhash Meel and Shri Goverdhan Verma also addressed the gatherings.
On this occasion, former MP Smt. Santosh Ahlawat, many former MLAs, other public representatives, Divisional Commissioner Shri Mohan Lal Yadav, District Collector Shri Sharad Mehra and other officers were also present.
